It shall be the purpose of the Marshall Girls Basketball Association (hereinafter “MGBA”) to provide the youth of Marshall and the surrounding area with the opportunity to participate in safe, positive, and educational basketball experience for players of all abilities.
This program is a feeder program for the Marshall High School Girls Basketball Program and is open to girls in the 3rd through 8th grades. The program receives direction and guidance from the high school coaching staff.
The goal of the program is to assist in the growth and development of young basketball players and to enhance their development of character building skills related to self-esteem, self-respect, and respect for others.
The association assists the youth in reaching those goals through dedication, perseverance, and team work both on and off the basketball court.
The MGBA is competitive as opposed to participation based and is geared towards girls in grades 3 through 8 interested in playing basketball and who are within the Marshall School District. At present time, these schools include Marshall Public Schools, Milroy, Lynd, Holy Redeemer Catholic School, Samuel Lutheran School, and True Light Christian School.
All players will have quality playing time during the games but time may not be equal in quantity. The association shall not discriminate against participants, coaches, or members regardless of their sex, creed, race, heredity, marital status, or otherwise.
The association shall protect the best interests of the participants, coaches, or members and uphold the laws of the appropriate jurisdictions whether local, state, or federal.
